With over 30 years of experience in all aspects of design and landscape construction, Chris and his team are masterful at finding the best solution for your landscape and garden challenges and vision. We work with a naturalistic aesthetic, and will develop the best strategies, whether structural, engineered solutions are required, or less complicated design solutions are able to meet your needs and budget. We are specialists in steep hillsides and larger properties, but we’re happy to work on smaller projects as well.
Winner of the California Landscape Contractors Association East Bay Chapter Sweepstakes top award in 2010 and the statewide award in 1996, and the Outstanding Achievement Award Design/Build Category among many others, we have had projects featured in a variety of local and regional garden and landscape magazines such Better Homes and Gardens and Oakland Magazine.
Our team of highly motivated and multi-talented individuals are experienced, efficient, and do work of the highest quality, while keeping project costs within estimates and budget. Our own friendly, non-intrusive crewmen perform the bulk of project construction work. For specialties such as line voltage electrical work, certain concrete finishes, and metal fabrication, we employ experienced subcontractors whose work we know well from past projects. All are competitively priced, state-licensed, bonded, and insured.
Chris E. Hecht founded the company in 1981, serving as designer and construction foreman. As the company has grown, and the complexity and scope of project estimating and technical planning has increased, he has given up his shovel. Chris still manages every project, however, from the initial site consultation through design, estimating, and coordinating critical construction tasks.
Chris is active in the Bay Area construction community, and has served as the President of the California Landscape Contractors Association East Bay Chapter. He is also a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers and is an invited member of the business peer counseling group Red to Black to Green for landscape contractors based in California.
Chris Wettersten, lead foreman, heads up our stonemasonry crew, and is responsible for many of our award-winning projects in stone. His ability to pass on the special skills of this ancient art is what has attracted many of our crew to sign on with the company.
Sharry Mullin, our extremely capable office manager, is familiar with the particular challenges of organizing creative people.
Maura Baldwin brings decades of seasoned experience to our team. She is a California licensed Landscape Architect, very skilled at CAD drafting, sketching, and realizing imaginative designs, and making them come to vibrant life.
